Senior Care FAQs

What is Senior Care?

It is an outpatient behavioral health program that provides support for seniors who are experiencing depression, grief, anxiety, loneliness, caregiver stress, and other emotional/psychiatric conditions.

Is Senior Care covered by traditional Medicare?

Yes. The program is for seniors who have traditional Medicare part B (ages 65 and older), as well as Medicare disability patients.

How many days a week does a person attend the program?

Typically, 3 days per week in the beginning, then 1-2 days as they get closer to graduation.

How long is a patient typically at Senior Care during the day?

Sessions are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 10:30 am to 2 pm.

Is a physician referral required?

No. Patients can refer themselves to the program, or can be referred by a healthcare provider, the Sutton Senior Center, churches, friends, family, etc.

How is Senior Care different from traditional outpatient therapy?

Senior Care utilizes a holistic approach to treatment, taking time to address a patient’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. The program offers individual and group therapy, nurse education and monitoring, and fall prevention.

How long does the Senior Care program last?

Each patient’s care is individualized to meet his or her needs. On average, patients are seen for at least 12 weeks.
