Horizon Health Announces Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Darren Brucken has been named Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Horizon Health. In addition to his new duties, Dr. Brucken will continue his current, full-time position as Hospitalist Medical Director.

As CMO, Dr. Brucken will serve as a liaison between the Horizon Health medical staff and administrative team. He will provide oversight of medical staff bylaws and ensure compliance with accreditation standards. He will collaborate with the medical staff to mitigate areas of concern, ensuring patients receive high-quality care.

“Dr. Brucken is a proven leader in healthcare and is well respected for his work in the community,” said Ollie Smith, Horizon Health president & CEO. “I am confident he will excel in the role of CMO as he assists with the governance of Horizon Health.”

Dr. Brucken takes on this expanded role with more than 25 years of experience at local healthcare organizations. He is currently the Vigo County Health Commissioner and serves in many leadership roles within Horizon Health. He is co-founder and president of P.I.N.K, Incorporated, a non-profit organization serving breast cancer patients, caregivers, and their families. The organization covers a nine-county area that includes Edgar and Clark counties in Illinois.
