Horizon Health Expands Podiatry Services

Welcomes Dr. Anna Ballard

Horizon Health is increasing access to podiatry services with the addition of a second full-time physician.

Dr. Anna Ballard joins Dr. Brittany Wojnicki in the Horizon Health Podiatry Department. Both physicians provide surgical podiatry, as well as care in Horizon Health’s Wound Clinic, which treats chronic and/or non-healing wounds.

“Dr. Ballard is a great addition to our team with her expertise and years of medical experience, which includes rural health,” Dr. Wojnicki said. “The practice has grown over the years and having another podiatrist will benefit our patients.”

Like Dr. Wojnicki, Dr. Ballard is a surgical podiatrist who diagnoses and treats foot and ankle conditions, including bunions, heel pain, ingrown toenails, plantar fasciitis, and arch problems.

Dr. Ballard has more than 20 years of experience in the medical field, which includes 15 years in podiatry. She specializes in diabetic foot care, diabetic limb salvage, flat foot surgery, foot and ankle reconstruction, deformity correction, foot and ankle sprains, and fracture care.

“I like rural health,” she said. “I feel I am using my skills where I am needed and where services aren’t always readily available.”

Dr. Ballard earned her medical degree at Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland. She completed medical residency in Oklahoma City at the Surgical Hospital of Oklahoma, LLC. The hospital is a training site for the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio). She completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery, including reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, at Hoosier Foot and Ankle in Indianapolis.

Dr. Ballard is from Owensboro, Kentucky, about three hours south of Paris, Illinois. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking, biking, and gardening.
