Janine Brann, of Paris, has been named 2023 Volunteer of the Year at Horizon Health.
The announcement was made at an April 24 reception that honored all volunteers for their service last year. The event took place during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27.
Janine has logged nearly 1,600 volunteer hours since joining the Paris Community Hospital (PCH) Volunteers in January 2018. She has served as the group’s co-treasurer since 2022. She retired from First Farmers Bank and has been involved in the PERK (People Encouraging Remarkable Kids) Mentoring Program and the Summer Food Program.
Janine’s nomination stated, “She is always ready like a recharged battery to take on more. She is dependable and dedicated, and way deserving of this honor.”
In 2023, 21 active PCH Volunteers donated nearly 2,900 hours. They manned the surgery waiting room, sorted mail, and operated the hospital gift shop. They purchased a blanket warmer for the Horizon Health Dialysis Center, donated to the Meals on Wheels Program, and awarded two $1,000 healthcare scholarships.
The April 24 reception also honored other individuals who provide volunteer service to Horizon Health. In addition to the PCH Volunteers, these include the hospital and foundation board of directors, chaplains, Meals On Wheels volunteers, and Patient Family Advocacy Council members.
