Edgar County native brings 18 years of experience
As a local resource for seniors for 18 years, Casey Simpson understands the unique challenges facing older adults.
Casey brings her experience to Senior Care, a service of Horizon Health, as a licensed social worker. She joins the team of Lisa Brinkerhoff and Terra Ogle, licensed clinical social workers. Lisa is Senior Care’s primary therapist while Terra serves as Senior Care manager and crisis services director.
“We’re so excited to have Casey who allows us to expand our services,” Terra said. “Her experience is applicable to the work our program does on a daily basis.”
As part of Senior Care’s full-time therapy team, Casey provides individual, group, and family counseling for seniors dealing with life’s many challenges.
“Senior Care uses a holistic model that addresses the mental, physical, and emotional needs of seniors,” Casey added. “Society views people over 60 as having lived their lives and no longer needing assistance. That is not the case. People have unique challenges as they get older.”
Casey’s experience includes long-term care and community care. Prior to Senior Care, she was the social services director at Paris Health & Rehab Center, where she began as an activity aide. As a care coordinator in Charleston, she connected seniors to essential community services and conducted pre-screenings for long-term care placement.
“The emphasis in my family was taking care of the older generation, which translated into my career path as a social worker,” she said.
Casey is studying to become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, which she expects to complete in 2025. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Indiana State University and an associate degree in human services from Lake Land College.
Casey was born and raised in Paris. She lives in Chrisman with her husband, Ralph, and children Jasper and Ainsley.
