Horizon Health Expands Dialysis Hours
New patients being accepted
The Horizon Health Dialysis Center has expanded its hours of operation to meet the increasing demand for services.
The Dialysis Center is now open six days a week – Monday through Saturday. Adding three additional days per week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) will help ensure all patients receive the treatment they need, said Rachel Kelley, Horizon Health vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer.
“We are extremely proud to offer these much-needed services to our communities,” she said. “While we are excited to expand these services, there is still more to come, including inpatient dialysis care as our long-term goal.”
New patients are being accepted. Those interested should call 217-466-4435 or submit an online form at HorizonHealth.org/Dialysis. Maintaining an active patient list helps Horizon Health gauge the full need and interest in the service.
Insurance coverage can be a factor when seeking dialysis treatment. If insurance is a barrier, contact your insurance plan or the Horizon Health dialysis team. A listing of accepted insurances is available at MyHorizonHealth.org/Dialysis.
“We are still working through insurance and have contracted with all major insurance providers who are willing to work with us,” said Martin Adams, Horizon Health vice president of finance and chief financial officer.
The need for local dialysis services has been identified in Horizon Health’s Community Health Needs Assessment for many years. The goal was to eliminate the hardship many patients face having to travel long distances for care.
The 5,200-square-foot Dialysis Center is located on the Horizon Health main campus. It includes eight dialysis bays and state-of-the-art Fresenius dialysis machines. The Center is accredited by The Joint commission and the National Dialysis Accreditation Commission.
Dialysis providers at Horizon Health include several well-known Wabash Valley physicians: Gaurav Kumar Verma, MD, the Center’s medical director; Manish Gera, MD; and Raj Jeevan, MD.
