Kelsey Fuqua Joins Family Practice Team at Paris Clinic

When Kelsey Fuqua began her career at Horizon Health nearly 10 years ago, she knew she wanted to stay local and help improve community health.

Kelsey, who became a family nurse practitioner in 2021, recently joined the practice of Dr. Kumar Sodvadiya, family medicine physician at the Paris Clinic. Kelsey and Kayla Miller, also a family nurse practitioner, work in collaboration with Dr. Kumar, who provides a full range of primary care services for patients of all ages.

“I became a nurse practitioner to continue to provide care for patients in my hometown and stay involved in the community,” Kelsey said.

In addition to family medicine, Kelsey provides nursing home coverage, along with Dr. Kumar, at Paris Health & Rehab Center.

“I’ve always had a connection with the geriatric population,” she added.

Over the years, Kelsey has supported various Horizon Health departments and services, including EZ Care, endocrinology, and the hospital’s medical/surgical unit. She graduated from the Health Occupations program while in high school and has worked at Horizon Health as a certified nursing assistant and registered nurse.

“I’m very excited to be in a full-time, family practice role and continue to learn while treating friends, family, and members of the community,” she said.

Kelsey earned her master’s degree and bachelor’s degrees in nursing at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. In her free time, she is the assistant cheerleading coach at Paris High School. She and her father, Rob, started a new traveling softball team in Paris this year called East Central Elite. She also enjoys watching her dad participate in dirt track/stock car racing.

Kelsey was born and raised in Paris, where she lives with her son, Robert, age 3.
