Horizon Health Grows Social Services Team

Recognizes valuable contributions during March

Horizon Health’s extensive growth in behavioral health services over the past year addresses a need for more local resources and access to care.

At Horizon Health, counseling and social services are two components of behavioral health. Social workers provide counseling in a clinical setting, while social services case managers help connect people to community resources.

Horizon Health celebrates its mental health team during National Social Work Month in March. The recognition brings awareness to the life-changing work that social workers do. This year’s national theme is “Social Work Breaks Barriers.”

Social work is one of the fastest-growing professions in the US, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The profession is expected to grow from 715,000 social workers in 2020 to more than 800,000 by the end of 2030.

Horizon Health’s behavioral health team consists of 13 counselors and two social services case managers. Services are available at the Paris Clinic, Horizon Health Dialysis Center, Senior Care, and Sycamore Pain & Wellness.

Though their credentials may vary, all mental health professionals provide valuable service. They generally follow a traditional psychological approach toward counseling. They provide individual and group treatment options, helping people prevent and cope with problems in their everyday lives. Social service case managers at Horizon Health help connect people to community resources, including transportation, medication, utility, food, and housing assistance.
