Horizon Health is now accepting registration for an upcoming first responder certification course.
The course will begin May 4 and take place every Wednesday evening for nine weeks (through June 29). Each session will be held from 6 to 10 pm in Conference Room D at Horizon Health. The fee for the course is $250.
Internet access is required, as this is a hybrid course. Access to Jones & Bartlett Learning and all course materials is provided. CPR and BLS certifications are included in the course. Twenty seats are available—first come, first served.
The first responder certification course will be led by Sean Robison, Horizon Health EMT. Robison is licensed through the state of Illinois as a lead instructor for the course and EMT-basic. He’s been instructing the course for seven years and is a practicing EMT-B for 14 years. He also serves as the EMS coordinator for the Paris Community Fire Protection District.
“A variety of people can benefit from a class like this,” said Robison. “We generally have a handful of people who are getting certified so they can use those skills in their workplace. Many factories have first responder teams who require this certification.”
Volunteer fire departments also require its participants to receive this credential.
Registration is open to anyone age 16 and older. Register at MyHorizonHealth.org/Classes by end of business Monday, April 11. The registration fee is required at the time of enrollment.
