The Horizon Health Foundation of East Central Illinois is making medical appointments more comfortable.
The foundation has donated 16 exam room chairs that easily convert to exam tables. These thick-padded, powered chairs are available in provider exam rooms in the Paris Clinic.
“Our patients and providers love them,” said Lacey Stults, MSN, RN, clinic director. “They accommodate a broad range of patients, including those who have difficulty getting onto a traditional exam table. Our providers like them because the chair-to-table design allows them to switch from a consultation to an examination.”
The high-low adjustable feature improves access for bariatric patients and those with disabilities, Stults said. Additionally, wheelchair-bound patients can be moved more easily to the exam table. A powered foot control raises and lowers the table, improving ergonomics and comfort for providers. Movable safety grab bars keep patients safe while the table is raised and lowered.
“This is an example of how generous gifts from the community are used to support local healthcare,” said Randi Bohannon, foundation executive director.
