Dr. Arturo Menchaca, urogynecologist at Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center, recently shared his medical expertise with world-renown physicians at an international conference highlighting the safe and effective use of lasers and other energy-based devices in healthcare.
Dr. Menchaca was a guest speaker at the 37th Annual Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc. (ASLM) on April 5-9 in San Diego, Calif. Dr. Menchaca is a member of ALSM, which has more than 4,000 members worldwide representing 50 medical specialties.
The conference was an opportunity for physicians to share their medical knowledge with each other, and interact with colleagues about medical laser applications and other types of energy-based technologies for non-invasive treatments and surgical uses.
At the conference, Dr. Menchaca discussed “A Novel Procedure for Vaginal Rejuvenation Using a CO2 Laser with a New Non-Ablative Modality.” This treatment is used for vaginal rejuvenation, dryness, loss of elasticity, decrease of sexual pleasure, urinary incontinence, urinary frequency, urgency, and pelvic organ prolapses.
ASLM states that lasers and other energy-based devices benefit patients in a number of ways. These include less swelling, reduced postoperative pain, reduced tissue injury, speedy recovery, reduced risk of infection, optimum healing, and reduced incidence of scar formation.
