Urogynecologist Joins Medical Staff at PCH/FMC

Arturo Menchaca, MD, urogynecologist, joined Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center (PCH/FMC) November 6 as a full-time provider in the Paris Family Medical Center.

Urogynecologists are physicians that are board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and have completed fellowship training in urogynecology, combining their OB/GYN knowledge with women’s urology.

PCH/FMC has offered women's’ health services for a number of years. “What we have been missing is a physician to really spearhead the program,” said Oliver Smith, PCH/FMC president & CEO. “Dr. Menchaca is an established women’s health specialist who is more than capable of giving that program the leadership it needs. Not only does he have the OB/GYN expertise, he will also be an asset to our entire region.” Currently, urogynecology is not readily available in the east-central Illinois area.

Dr. Menchaca provides a broad spectrum of women’s services, including the following:

• General gynecology: endometriosis, pelvic pain, fibroids, pelvic masses, cysts, abnormal bleeding, contraceptive counseling, abnormal PAP smears, pelvic reconstruction for pelvic organ prolapses
• Pediatric and adolescent gynecology
• Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery of all kinds, including robotic and single-incision
• Infertility services, including surgery
• Urogynecological surgery: urinary incontinence, pelvic reconstruction, single-incision laparoscopic surgery, sling procedures
• Cosmetic gynecologic procedures: laser liposuction, tummy tuck, vaginoplasty, labioplasty, clitoral dehooding, hymenoplasty

Dr. Menchaca is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and board eligible in urogynecology. He earned both his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Illinois. He completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Chicago and fellowship in urogynecology at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Centralia. Dr. Menchaca is a member of a number of professional medical societies, including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Urogynecologic Society, American Association of Cosmetic Surgery, and American Academy of Cosmetic Gynecologists.

Dr. Menchaca has been in private practice in suburban Chicago since 1988. At that time, he was only the second doctor with a fellowship in urogynecology in the Chicagoland area. He enjoys teaching medical residents, nursing and medical students, and practicing gynecologists, urogynecologists, and urologists.

When not at work, Dr. Menchaca runs marathons and enjoys photography. He and his wife, Ixta, are relocating to Paris over the next couple of months.
