Pre-Op Clinic

Surgery Preparation at Horizon Health

The Pre-Op clinic is a "one-stop-shop" to ensure you are prepared for your upcoming surgery. The clinic ensures all required testing and clearances are completed--such as labs, EKGs, and radiology imaging--in one convenient visit.

What to Expect

You will work one-on-one with a peri-operative nurse who will walk you through a step-by-step process to prepare for your surgery.

While appointments are preferred, many physicians send the patient to the pre-op clinic immediately following their clinic visit.

During Your Appointment

During your pre-op visit, the nurse will discuss your pre-surgery instructions, ensure you have a good understanding of the procedure, complete a medication review, and perform an extensive health questionnaire. A separate anesthesia consultation may or may not be necessary.

Preparing for your Pre-Op Appointment

Please bring the following for your peri-operative nurse to review:

  • Bottles of all medications--including over-the-counter and supplements
  • Copies of living wills/advance directives
  • Pacemaker and/or defibrillator ID cards
