Beginning Tuesday, June 28, Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center (PCH/FMC) will work with the Chester P. Sutton Senior Center to offer free weekly exercise classes for seniors. The program, Stay Strong, Live Long, will be held at the senior center at 10am on Tuesdays and instructed by licensed staff of the PCH Rehabilitation Services Department.

“Fitness isn’t just for the younger generations,” said Morgan Kincaid, doctor of physical therapy and PCH/FMC rehabilitation services supervisor. “In fact, fitness becomes even more important as you age.”

Stay Strong, Live Long will help participants maintain and/or increase their overall flexibility, strength, and balance, making everyday tasks easier. Exercises used in the class will help improve activities of daily living, such as getting out of a chair, reaching above the head, and walking.

Sheryle Hendry, physical therapy assistant (PTA), leads a similar, well-attended program at a local assisted living facility weekly.

“I heard about the program Sheryle was offering and thought it was super,” said Erin Frank, PCH/FMC public relations/marketing/grant writing manager. “I thought it had the potential to benefit people beyond the residents of that location.”

PCH/FMC staff reached out to the Chester P. Sutton Senior Center, which graciously agreed to host the classes.

No registration is necessary. If you have any previous health issues, please discuss with your physician before participating.
