Doc Acklin Healthcare Scholarship

Applications must be received before Friday, March 30, 2018.

Dr. James Acklin was a lifelong resident of Paris, Illinois, who cared for much of his community through his Family Medicine practice at Paris Community Hospital (PCH). Furthermore, Doc Acklin was an avid athlete, coach, and fan of Paris High School athletics. This scholarship memorializes Doc Acklin by awarding funds to two outstanding seniors who embody the character traits he exhibited.

This scholarship will award two Paris Cooperative High School (PCHS) graduating seniors (one boy and one girl) $1,000 each toward furthering their education in the medical field. All applicants must be accepted to a recognized institution of higher learning to further their education in a chosen field. The students receiving the scholarships must use the money to help defray expenses for tuition, books, supplies, or school fees. Checks will be sent directly to the colleges they plan to attend.

A committee consisting of representatives from PCH, PCHS, and the Acklin family will screen and select recipients based upon their scholastic ability, participation in athletics, and character.
